Are your courses accredited?
All our courses are developed using the guidelines from major classification societies. We are currently working on accreditation for the “Salvage Experience” course and the “Salvage for non-Salvors” course. Our colleagues from STMS (Survival Training Maritime Safety) and Maersk Training Centre have obtained their accreditation for their training institutes and courses.
How do I know my entry level for the Salvage Experience course?
The advanced course is for senior maritime experts with more than 15 years of experience and senior management of shipping.
The intermediate course is suitable for mid-level management with the ambition to become senior management and for experts in affiliated businesses such as legal, insurance or coast guards.
The entry-level course is for people with limited experience in shipping and senior management that recently joined the maritime industry from another industry.
If you are unsure, which course level best suits your personal objectives, please call our team.
Why has SVITZER Salvage started a training business?
The shipping industry is changing rapidly in a turbulently dynamic environment. Being part of the maritime industry, the salvage industry itself is facing new challenges for the future. Following our global growth strategy, we have decided to start up our academy in 2006. The initial objectives of the SVITZER Salvage Academy was to train our candidate salvage masters to the required professional level and to share our best practices in the field of emergency prevention with a view to protect values for our clients.
During our 110 year history SVITZER Salvage has accumulated world-class knowledge and experience in salvage and maritime crises handling. We want to put this knowledge to work in as many ways as possible, both in providing salvage services, in shaping policies and in training. The SVITZER Salvage Academy was created to extend our best practices to all interested colleagues in the shipping industry.
Is SVITZER Salvage not limiting its own market when you teach how to prevent and be prepared for marine emergencies?
There is an increasing awareness of safety and prevention in the maritime industry. We want to be part of that trend and do our bit in heightening standards. Despite such ongoing measures to reduce the number of shipping casualties, there will – unfortunately – always be situations where our professional services are needed.
